Crazy For Trying

He made her feel alive again.
She lain in bed recalling every detail of him and their encounter. His eyes had tamed her first. The tender blend of blue and grey had focused on her soul as he looked into her. He had seen her as few others had cared to. The warm depth within them had instantly pulled her into him as well. The cryptic signals they understood, meaningless to the rabble around them, were deeper to her than the world would ever know. His eyes continued pierced her mind even now. His mouth, trim yet pouty, had called to her in a voice perhaps only her mind had created. She had wanted desperately to taste them and the passion she knew he held there. His face was sculpted with the finest attention to detail yet his masculinity made her a woman.
She felt strange and alone even as she listened to this internal dialogue because she knew couldnt drown herself in her dreams. Although she knew he couldnt ever love her, his ability to stir emotions within her taunted her. The racing in her heart at his smile was as forbidden as it was real. She fell for him so simply that she knew she couldn't have found the solution to her heart's aching in those before him. The false dichotomy she built her life around crumbled in his memory.
Hed only given her less than a day of himself along with a few photographsyet enough to stir her body alive. That burning desire taught her as clearly as none other could she wasnt content romantically. Shed sacrificed herself with the others in ways that even then she didnt understand. Somewhere, perhaps in him perhaps not, lain her true soul mate, shed couldnt be sure. She knew though that her soul mate couldn't have been before him. His visit, brief but beautiful, opened her eyes to this and wet her desires.
She''d return home to the battle of her pasts knowing the fight was over. She promised herself then, the smile of his memory still glistening on her lips, to hear her heart shouting. He had spoken to her soul and she would be damned if she ignored it--that was all she could truly give to him. She knew what she wanted with greater clarity than before even if she was doomed to find it outside him. She silently thanked him. She owed him the flight of the butterfly, her independence, her pleasure. For that she would always remember him softly with a tear.
