Yesterday I returned
To the old place;
Suddenly I saw your face
By the old clock tower,
In your hand
A flower:
'Nice to see you again,
So- nice to see you again...'
Like a magnet I was drawn
To this journey of unknown:
'Nice to see you again,
So nice to see you again...'
The words kept repeating,
Our song played
On the radio!
The feeling was funny, you know!
We embraced,
Then walked in the snow
Cold faced,
And by the sea--
The weather was lousy.
Nice to see you again,
So nice to see you again...
You kept saying
How beautiful is this February
How happy you were
Here with me,
And I said
Yesterday again I thought of you
Wrote some poetry--
The words kept coming all day...
Thought I'd write an odyssey,
Wondered
If you missed me,
Or like to the snow a lost mitten,
You were no longer smitten?
By the aftenoon the snow
Came heavy
It filled the streets and the town.
I was just dragging my self
Around the house
Wearing my white gown;
The cat took a nap
By the boiler!
The soup on the oven was hot.
The music so melancholy,
And I just missed you a lot.
Now I am no longer sure
What will happen to you and I
When we kiss this storm goodbye?
Will we laugh, or should
We cry?
And you said:
I must be your only love,
Because I hear this whispers
From above!
I was not sure what you meant?
Was it all the letters!
You sent...
From different places,
The lost embraces,
Or when you called
Out of nowhere,
But I have changed
My number!
The messages
Misplaced;
Is this why you walked
With me
Through the snow shower
Cold faced?
For me it was easier
To stay mum,
To go to a previous page;
Imagined my self
On this big life's stage,
Thinking of what,
And, what not!
Said: I too darling missed
You a lot, but...I
Was walking on someone else
Territory,
And how do I now tell you
I am sorry?
And we sang
Let's return here each February
Darling-- do not cry,
We'll be back you and I...
Nice to see you again...
So nice to see you again!
Together and carefree
By this same wild sea!
But in case one of us is gone...
