I was thinking today of a far-off place
where love had a name and a beautiful face,
For there my heart was ever true,
with tender kisses and "I love you's."

I ask myself now- was it all in vain?
Did he play my heart as if it were a game?
Or did his love just slowly die,
leaving me to wonder why?

The past was then, the present is now,
I make myself this solemn vow...
To find a heart, so true, so bold,
and never part as we grow old.

On this new love I will wait
till I stand at Heaven's gate,
and if I die before he's near,
I will shed a single tear,
and let it dry upon my face,
for my soul is lost in a far-off place...
